PR oh PR...

Hari ini berita tentang PKR menguasai dunia media tempatan. Suka giler UMNO bila Zahrain kata Lim Guan Eng kominis...Yang paling suka teman tengok Zul Nordin. Melompat2 katak ala Ibrahim Ali dia....

PR menang dulupun bukan sebab dia kuat.

Sampai zaman Najib dah tak buleh nak buat apa dah...he he!!

Suspended Khalid Samad says “all’s well”

SHAH ALAM: Shah Alam Member of Parliament Khalid Samad said his objective has been met despite being suspended as Shah Alam PAS division chief and central political bureau member.

Beliau bisa saja menghentam JKD Pas ala Zul Nordin tetapi nyata he is in a class of his own.

Tenang, calculative and a very shrewd politician. He is very smart. Tanya Anwar Ibrahim, kalu agak2nyalah Khalid nak join PKR...sudikah dia menerimanya?

Kecewa? Apa nak kecewa...benda dah dijangka. YB Khalidpun relax aje.

Lagipun dah ramai sangat yang komen pasal tu. Bacalah Malaysian Wave, Al-Bakistani, Penarik Beca, Exco Pemuda dll....intipatinya sama. Cuma gaya cerita berbeza.

Wallahu'alam....

Sama saja lah bro...!!

Teman mendoakan miker lepas syeikh...tapi...faham2 sajalah...

Anwar: Najib wants me jailed quickly
Fri, Jan 29, 2010
National
By Karl Malakunas

MANILA: Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim today accused the Najib regime of seeking to convict him quickly of sodomy as part of efforts to deflect attention against its own woes.

Anwar spoke out angrily after he lost his appeal for access to the government’s evidence against him in the sodomy trial, which is due to start this Tuesday and could see him jailed for 20 years.

"I’m shocked with the (government’s) impunity to go on with such a case despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary," Anwar told AFP on a short trip to the Philippines.

Anwar accused Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak of orchestrating efforts to have him convicted of sodomy, and said he feared the court could buckle under pressure from the government.

Asked if he thought he would win the case, Anwar said: "Yes, assuming the court agrees… to look at facts and the law. I’m confident of the facts.

"(But) I’m not too confident of the system because I think Najib is quite directly involved."

Anwar said the court case may be over in a matter of weeks.

"It seems they want to rush it… their political masters want a quick conviction."

Anwar insisted the government was seeking to jail him on sodomy charges only to eliminate his political challenge, as the Barisan Nasional was losing popularity amid corruption allegations and rising racial domestic tensions.

"I think Najib wants to deflect attention from the cases of corruption and the tensions that are brewing," he said.

In Kuala Lumpur, Anwar’s lawyer said his legal team would seek a review of Friday’s Federal Court ruling that barred him from having access to the prosecution’s evidence against him.

"The court ruled that the evidence that we were seeking did not fall within the ‘necessary and desirable’ category and turned down the appeal," lawyer Sankara Nair told AFP.

"It has far-reaching negative implications in Malaysian criminal law as it is a reversal of earlier positions in law allowing greater disclosure by the prosecutors so the accused can prepare his defence effectively."

Sankara said he would seek a stay of the trial, which is due to begin on Tuesday, to give time for Anwar’s legal team to push for an appeal to strike out the case completely.

"Tetapi bila Umno serah memorandum sahaja, mulalah kes bakar gereja.

EKSKLUSIF: EXCO Minta Khairy Lepaskan Jawatan Ketua PemudaPosted on Thursday, January 28 @ 20:17:52 MYT Topic: Utama

Apa lagi tunggu Ghani Patail??

AG told to act against Khir Toyo
Fri, Jan 29, 2010
National

PETALING JAYA: The Attorney-General has no longer any reason to delay action against former Selangor Mentri Besar Khir Toyo, who is accused of lavishing RM1.7 million of taxpayers’ money on two Disneyland trips during his term in office.

Ramon Navaratnam (picture), chairman of the Centre for Public Policy Studies, said this today in reaction to an announcement by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) that it had completed its probe on Khir.

“That the file has been sent up to the Senior Federal Counsel indicates the MACC believes there are grounds to probe further,” he said.

“But whether the AG believes there is sufficient evidence to secure a conviction is another matter.

“This case has attracted enormous public anger and public funds are also involved. So, whatever it decides, the AG must be seen to be efficient and impartial. It must make its reasons very clear and spell them out publicly for all to see.”

Selangor PKR Youth leaders on Tuesday lodged a report to “remind” the MACC to complete its probe on the embattled Khir, who is facing several large corruption probes on different fronts.
Some 30 Youth members sporting Mickey Mouse masks handed in their report together with documentary evidence to Selangor MACC director Jaafar Mahad.

“I was told that the Putrajaya MACC had completed its investigations into the matter and the findings have been forwarded to its senior federal counsel,” Jaafar said. “Now, the senior federal counsel would investigate the matter from all aspects of the law.”

Khir, a senior Umno leader, has said the charges were false. According to him, the trips to Disneyland parks in France and the United States–each with a large entourage–were “technical visits.”

Apart from the theme park visits, his lavish bungalow in Shah Alam–which some have estimated to be worth RM24 million–has also attracted public interest. However, despite reports lodged with the MACC, the probe has been slow, according to Harakah Daily.

“This is the crux of the problem,” said PKR vice president and Subang MP Sivarasa Rasiah.

“Corruption is corruption and the MACC must be seen to exercise more professionalism in the way it conducts its probes.

“When reports are made against the Pakatan Rakyat and over miserly sums, the MACC can rush about and get charges up and going in no time. But when it involves an Umno-BN leader, they have to be constantly reminded or the case will sink into obscurity.

“I believe the Disneyland charges were raised by the Selcat (a Selangor parliamentary committee) nearly a year ago in March 2008. And the amounts involved are not small. But till now, the authorities are pushing the case round and round with no result.

“If they want the public to have confidence in them, then they must do a much better job and target the big fish and not just the small fry.”

Pidato Royalti Minyak Malam Ni...

MB Khalid Vs Obama

Khalid nak bawa budaya baru. New politic.

Obamapun merudum dia puntya rating...relaxlah...

Populariti MB S'gor menjunam
Khabar angin kononnya populariti Menteri Besar Selangor Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim mula terhakis selepas berkuasa dua tahun ternyata bukan cakap-cakap kosong.

Ibrahim Ali-Zulkifli Nordin Rebut Jawatan Presiden MP Bebas..he he

Ibrahim Ali seru Zulkifli Nordin bersamanya jadi Wakil Bebas
Januari 27, 2010 by Pelapor

Ghani Othman Bakal Tersingkir...

Plots hatched to topple Johore MB
Wed, Jan 27, 2010
National

JOHORE BARU: Several plots are being hatched to topple Johore Menteri Besar Datuk Abdul Ghani Othman, according to Umno insiders.

They say that two Umno leaders keen to see Ghani replaced is Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who was removed as Johore Menteri Besar in 1995, and Higher Education Minister Datuk Mohammed Khaled Noordin, a classmate of the new Sultan.

Both the Umno federal leaders see Ghani as a stumbling block to numerous business interest groups believed to be associated to them, the insiders alleged.

They also said that Muhyiddin and Khaled are believed to be the only two Ministers among all Johore Federal Ministers invited for Thursday’s investiture ceremony of the new Sultan’s first son as Tengku Mahkota at Istana Besar.

The order is believed to have come from the palace, they said.

Umno sources say the late Sultan Iskandar had backed Ghani and until his death refused to entertain Muhyiddin or Khaled’s overtures for an audience.

According to the sources, both Muhyiddin and Khaled had tried to influence former Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi to stop the re-appointment of Ghani as Menteri Besar after the 2008 elections by claiming that palace was not in favour of him.

However, when Pak Lah went to see the late Sultan and submit another name, the former Prime Minister’s request was rejected by Sultan Iskandar who wanted Ghani to continue as Menteri Besar, the sources said.

Although at that time the plot to oust Ghani failed, now new plots are being hatched up by Umno leaders close to the Sultan Ibrahim and to convince Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak to make a change in Johore, they said.

Muhyiddin was the Menteri Besar from 1986 to 1995, serving under the late Sultan but in 1995 was pulled back to the federal level by former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who named Ghani as Johore MB.

Since then, say the sources, Muhyiddin’s supporters have been manoeuvring to undermine Ghani who had the backing of the late Sultan and Dr Mahathir and now the support of several Federal Umno leaders aligned to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

However, the demise of Sultan Iskandar has placed Ghani in a less favourable position with the palace with certain Umno quarters backed by groups with huge business interest in Johore spreading stories of an imminent change to the political hierarchy in the state.

Another Johore Umno faction associated with Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hussein, however, is believe to favour status quo to be maintained in the state, at least till after the next general election, according to the sources.

They say Najib as Umno president will have his hands full if the Muhyiddin-Khaled factions decide to influence the palace to push Ghani out of the Menteri Besar’s seat.

Defiant PKR man faces suspension
By Baradan Kuppusamy

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 25 — Kulim-Bandar Baharu MP, Zulkifli Noordin is likely to be suspended and not immediately sacked despite defying de facto PKR leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s instructions to withdraw a police report lodged against PAS lawmaker Khalid Samad, party sources told The Malaysian Insider today.

Zulkifli (picture) accused Anwar today of bias after the latter directed him to withdraw the police report lodged over the “Allah” issue.

He added that he would only withdraw the report if Khalid also retracted a statement saying the Selangor Islamic enactments are outdated.

But despite his antagonistic stand and the rising chorus for him to be sacked Pakatan Rakyat supremo Anwar is not likely to endorse any move to sack Zulkifli.

PKR party officials say Zulkifli will still face stern disciplinary action even if he escapes the sack.

“Even newly appointed Secretary-General Saifuddin Nasution has joined in the chorus of criticisms,” a PKR source said.

“But Anwar has always been against sacking anybody…he knows how it feels as he himself was sacked from Umno once.”

“He is always for forgivng and I expect Zulkifli to be suspended,” the source said adding however that Zulkifli may resign to “save face” before the party’s disciplinary committee makes a decision.

The political bureau is meeting tomorrow and although the Zulkifli issue would be discussed, the matter will likely be referred to the disciplinary committee.

If Zulkifli resigns he could declare himself an independent as PAS, of which he was a member before, is unlikely to accept him.

“He is tainted…nobody wants him. Even Umno will reject him but he will not join Barisan,” the source said. “The best option for him is to resign voluntarily and be an independent in Parliament.”

“None of the Pakatan political parties will accept him or re-field him in the upcoming general election,” Pakatan sources said. “This is probably the end of road for Zulkifli.”

PKR supreme council member Datuk Zaid Ibrahim issued a strong statement today, demanding the party sack Zulkifli, arguing that lodging a report was unacceptable and a form of intimidation.

“It is time for PKR to look at itself... its credibility is being affected. In my view, they must sack him. Otherwise the party will become a laughing stock,” Zaid told a press conference this morning.

Anwar said last night that Zulkifli will face disciplinary action by the party.

“I have always given him room to express himself but I have not always agreed with him.

“I have advised him not to cause any tension among our partners but he has crossed the line this time,” Anwar told reporters at Pakatan Rakyat’s road show here last night.

PKR sources said Anwar had pulled up Zulkifli twice before and he was let off because he allegedly apologised to the party boss.

Zulkifli is said to have a special relationship with Anwar as he was one of the nine original lawyers acting for him after the former DPM was sacked in 1998 and charged with sodomy and corruption.

He was detained under Internal Security Act in September 1998 together with Anwar and 17 other persons.

He was one of the few lawyers who stepped up to defend Tun Salleh Abas in the “1988 May Day for Justice” saga.

Pengumuman siasatan Dr Hasan, Khalid 29 Januari

Pertama, membuat kritikan terbuka berkaitan dengan prosedur tatacara pendengaran Selcat;

Jawatankuasa Disiplin menyiasat mereka selepas PAS mengadakan mesyuarat khas Nov lalu ekoran gesaan Mursyidul Am PAS Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat agar diadakan muktamar agung khas.

Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad has audience with Sultan
By CHRISTINA TAN

SHAH ALAM: Embattled Shah Alam Member of Parliament Khalid Samad had an audience with the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, on Friday.

Khalid was seen entering the compound of Istana Bukit Kayangan in a Toyota Harrier at 11.15am.

When leaving the palace at about 1pm, Khalid told reporters that the meeting between him and the Sultan was mainly on the development plans in Shah Alam, the capital of Selangor.
He said they also discussed the Sultan’s vision for Shah Alam.

When asked if he was summoned to the palace due to his controversial remarks over the “Allah” issue, Khalid said he was invited to the palace after writing to seek an audience with the Sultan since November last year.

On the religious issue, Khalid said the Sultan had given him some advice.

“I’m taking all (the advice) in good faith (semuanya saya dengar dengan baik),” he said.

Earlier, people from 50 youth groups and non-governmental organisations in Selangor gathered at the offices of the Selangor Religious Council and state religious department (JAIS) here to protest against Khalid for saying that non-Muslims should be allowed to use the word “Allah.”

The group, led by Belia Bersatu Shah Alam chairman Azahari Shaari, handed a memorandum to the public relation officer of JAIS, Ustaz Mohd Hidayat Abdul Rani.

“We want action to be taken against Khalid,” he told a press conference.

On Dec 31, the High Court lifted a government ban on non-Muslims using “Allah” as a translation for “God.” The Home Ministry appealed and was granted a stay on the ruling pending its appeal.

DAP dakwa bukan Melayu terus dipinggirkan

BERHATI-HATILAH ANWAR BILA MSO SUDAH MEMUJA...HE HE!!

TAKUT NANTI ADA PROJEK KAMBING TAK JADI...LAIN JADINYA.

HE HE...HE HE..

EZAMPUN KAWAN MSO JUGAK...TAK KAN DAH LUPA??

Hakikat Berhakikat
Anwar Sebuah Piala Rebutan

[wm.kl. 5:50 pm 20/01/10]

MACC officers raid Selangor exco Yaakob’s office
UPDATED

SHAH ALAM, Jan 20 — Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers raided the office of Selangor executive councillor Yaakob Sapari at the state secretariat building here this afternoon.

The five-member MACC team led by Superintendent Prem Raj Victor confiscated documents related to sand mining and the sale of sand by the state government.

Yaakob is the state Agriculture, Natural Resources and Entrepreneurial Development committee chairman.

The officers wanted to summon Yaakob’s executive secretary, Hussein Ahmad, to their headquarters for further questioning.

However, the state government will only allow him to be questioned during office hours as the High Court ruling that interrogations can only take place during office hours is still valid.

Officers confiscated documents related to sand mining only and not the sale of sand by the state government.

Yaakob later told reporters that the MACC officers are acting based on a report lodged against Hussein.

The report claimed that Hussein had illegaly approved a sand mining project and that the sand mining bosses had sponsored his trips to China.

“I have told them that my office does not have the power to approve any sand mining proposals and only the Semesta group can process the applications which will be presented to the Exco.

“His trip to Hangzhou, China was paid by the State government and approved by the exco.

“His trip to Beijing was also paid by a club under the state secretariat,” he said.

He added that MACC has no case against Hussein because they have documents proving he is innocent.

“This is straight forward. They are purposely doing this to bring shame to my office,” he said.

Yaakob also confirmed that three documents have been taken by the MACC — profile of the sand mining company and documents related to the China trips.

The MACC officers came with a warrant at 3.30pm and arrested Hussein.

Hussein was brought to MACC Putrajaya headquarters followed by state government lawyer Salim Bashir and Yaakob in seperate vehicles.

Chinese ready for PAS, says ex-deputy minister Tan
Wed, Jan 20, 2010
National

SHAH ALAM: Malaysian Chinese are ready for PAS, says Dr Tan Kee Kwong, the former Deputy Minister of Land and Cooperatives.

“They can see the differences for themselves, the leadership style and the integrity of leaders like Nik Abdul Aziz and his team,” he said. “They are less pompous and are moderate compared to Umno leaders.”

Tan, who left Gerakan in 2008, said the Chinese had come a long way politically and members of the younger generation were more mature and knowledgeable.

“They know where they stand with Umno’s Barisan Nasional,” he told Harakah, the PAS-owned weekly. “They know they have no future if Umno-Barisan continues to rule. Umno today is far from what it used to be. Even when I was in Gerakan, we had already felt the pressure to leave the coalition. The leaders don’t listen. They do as they please.”

Tan, 63, left Gerakan because he was frustrated with the system. Today he is a member of Parti Keadilan Rakyat’s supreme council and enjoys being able to make a difference.

He said: “I think what is important to the Chinese is that PAS has shown that Malaysia can be a moderate Islamic country in the future. This is essential, and with the ‘Allah’ controversy, we can see where integrity lies.”

On Dec 31 the Kuala Lumpur had ruled that the catholic weekly Herald, could use theterm “Allah” in prayer and publications. It also ruled that the Home Ministry was wrong in banning the publications in 2007.

Tan said PAS had walked the Islamic path correctly, with honesty and integrity, traits that are “grossly missing in today’s political climate.”

Some Issues To Highlight--MPAJ Town Planning Draft
2009/12/28, Monday
1) The Tamil school in Jalan Ampang is going to move to Ampang Indah in the name of development. I felt this is ridiculous, there must be a balance between business, education, cultural and social life.

2) An incinerator is going to build in Taman Saga (near Hulu Langat). Incinerator is an outdated technology which is not friendly to the environment. This was proposed with the reason of saving MPAJ cost (our Pengarah Perancangan En Awang said in the briefing), then who is going to pay our medical bill?

3)A piece of housing area near Jalan Kuari, Kg Cheras Baharu is turning into commercial land. Don't we have enough traffic jam every day why we need extra commercial lots, I supposed a developer is waiting at the MPAJ doorside, If I missed out this part and if this plan is approved, then the developer will sign the contract immidiately.

4)The worship place for non-muslim is totally ignore in this plan. Same like the needs of OKU.

5)In Cheras Hartamas, 2 schools lands were sacrifice for TNB to build their high tension wayer. I supposed the people there deserve a school. On the other hand, the surau, tadika and community hall did not mention in the plan too.

6) I think Teratai deserve a place for library. Write comment (11 Comments)

The Process Of Counter Propose the Draf Rancangan MPAJ
2009/12/28, Monday
It is not easy to educate the public to understand the Draf Rancangan MPAJ. What is this? This is a draft for a town planning, it designs the place where u have school, worship area, residential area, park, station, community hall....Most people tend to ignore it as this may be difficult for them to understand. However, it is crucial for all the residents especially resident association to take part.

(photo: people checking and studying the plan in my office)

In fact you are the one to decide how to develope your community.
I had requested MPAJ to provide a briefing on 16 Dec 8.30p.m. at MPAJ Hall.
22 Dec while most Chinese having dinner with their family to celebrate Dong Zhi, 15 of us staying in my office to discuss the plan.

23 Dec we called upon residents to study and fill in the oppose forms if they are not happy with the layout plan.

28 Dec We submited the 1st batch of the form. Total 274 opinion/oppose forms.

Ahli Politik Jadi Boss: Petronas Jadi Macam Felda = Lembu Kena Cucuk Hidung.

Dr M backs Hassan Marican to stay as Petronas boss
By Asrul Hadi Abdullah Sani

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 19 — Petronas advisor Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad (picture) signalled his objection today to the national oil company’s CEO Tan Sri Hassan Marican being replaced with a senior politician.

The Malaysian Insider had reported last week that Hassan’s term at the helm of Petronas is likely to be extended for another year after his contract expires next month, but speculation persists about a politician taking over his job.

An announcement on the extension — expected soon from the government — will put an end to the uncertainty surrounding Hassan’s future.

Dr Mahathir said today that a politician appointed as chairman would not be in the interest of Petronas.

“Well, I do not know. From what I see is that some of the top politicians have been making a mess of our economy. If you want them to make a mess of Petronas then I think they should become the top executive or chairman of Petronas,” he told reporters at Petronas’s headquarters in KLCC here.

Speculation has been rife that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak plans to replace the current chairman with a senior politician with the former home minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar mentioned as one of the candidates.

Petronas is under the jurisdiction of the government and only the PM can determine such a senior appointment in the company.

Hassan also refused to comment on his future in the national oil company. “I think the best to comment is the government,” he said.

Petronas had recently announced that its net profit before tax for April — September 2009 was RM31.2 billion compared to RM63.3 billion in the same period last year. While at the same time, revenues dropped 37.5 per cent to RM 98.2 billion from RM157.2 billion.

The government has been criticised for its high dependency and over reliance on Petronas’ revenue. Many fear that Petronas funds will be abused with a politician appointed as the company’s chairman.

There has been swirling speculation that Hassan would be replaced as Petronas chief executive after his contract ends in February. This was because of his clashes with the Datuk Seri Najib Razak administration in the past year over an appointment to the board of directors and his own independent streak.

The clash with the administration happened last year when Omar Mustapha, a senior aide of Najib, was denied a board seat at the oil firm despite explicit instructions by the prime minister.

Under the Petroleum Development Act, the oil firm is answerable only to the PM, which meant that the board may have been insubordinate in its actions.

Eventually, a second request by Najib led to the board “deferring” the decision. Najib then put his foot down and Omar has since joined the board.

The Omar saga led to much speculation surrounding Hassan’s future. But The Malaysian Insider understands that the continued economic uncertainty and Hassan’s experience has made replacing him now an unattractive prospect.

Goodbye Samy...ayoyo...ini kali for good lah dey tambi!!

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 18 — A rare and stormy face-off between MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu and his deputy and anointed successor Datuk G. Palanivel yesterday has sparked fierce speculation in the MIC that the usually inoffensive Palanivel has finally found the gumption to move against the wounded and battered president.

The MIC is abuzz over the import and significance of the huge fallout between the party’s two top leaders.

“Is this the beginning of the end of Samy Vellu?” one top MIC leader asked. “If Palanivel publicly asks Samy Vellu to step down that is the start of the end of Samy Vellu.”

“Samy Vellu cannot survive such an outcome,” the leader said adding everyone in the MIC and Barisan Nasional are waiting for the party president to announce a firm date to depart the scene.
But Samy Vellu has refused to do so, giving various excuses to stay on including the need to “train” Palanivel for leadership.

Their stunning face-off took place during the meeting of the directors of MIED, nearly all of whom are senior leaders in the MIC.

The quarrel broke out after Samy Vellu loudly complained that he is “under attack from all sides and from everyone”, a senior MIC leader present at the meeting told The Malaysian Insider.

“Even those who were elected with my help are now arrayed against me,” the sources quoted Samy Vellu as saying.

Samy Vellu proceeded to name the people attacking him — from former deputy Datuk S. Subramaniam to former MIED CEO Chitrakalla Vasu and others like former close ally, Tan Sri M. Mahalingam.

“There is a conspiracy against me,” he accused everyone present, at which point the usually taciturn Palanivel spoke up and blasted Samy Vellu point for point, arguing all the “problems” Samy Vellu is facing were of his own making and originated long before the October 2008 MIC election in which Palanivel defeated Subramaniam by a narrow 80 votes.

Samy Vellu has been telling his supporters that without his votes, Palanivel would not have made it but now “after winning they are all lined up against me.”

Sources said Palanivel’s rare outburst shook Samy Vellu especially after the point-by-point rebuttal.

Palanivel shot back that Chitrakala — who is suing Samy Vellu and who has lodged police reports against him, alleging mismanagement and corruption — was a problem of his own making.

Palanivel accused Samy Vellu, according to sources, of bringing Chitrakala into MIED, promoting her and giving her a carte blanche to manage MIED.

“Now you are blaming us for your mess,” Palanivel allegedly shot back.

He also turned on the president for favouring Subramaniam over other party leaders and “giving him ideas that he can succeed the president”, and in the end Subramaniam “rewarded Samy Vellu with a stab in the back.”

Palanivel also lambasted the president fort thinking that he (Palanivel) won on Samy Vellu’s strength. “I won on my own merit… your supporters voted for Sothinathan (former vice-president and Samy Vellu blue-eyed boy Datuk S. Sothinathan who polled 280 votes) and Subramaniam.”

“Stop thinking I am not a leader on my own merit… I can run this party better then you have,” Palanivel allegedly shot back, according to witnesses. “I have not taken one cent from the MIC or MIED but I have contributed millions to the party.”

A shaken Samy Vellu then threatened to resign immediately and Palanivel dared him to as MIC leaders watched in silence, stunned.

The meeting ended on that note.

Sources said Samy Vellu, dazed by the unexpected rebellion from his deputy, took immediate steps to mollify Palanivel and not let the rebellion, which is privately supported by many MIC leaders, from worsening.

He took two steps immediately.

He is understood to have telephoned Palanivel and assured him that he was not blaming the deputy president but the three-vice-presidents for not giving him his due as party president.
Secondly, he got his family-owned Tamil Nesan daily to run a front-page story with a “pleasant” photograph of Palanivel under the heading “Samy Vellu will consult with Palanivel to rebuild MIC.”

The story implies that the two leaders are on good and friendly terms, and will work together for the MIC when in fact they probably had their biggest clash in their usually balmy relationship.
Palanivel left the country last night and could not be reached for comment.

One of his strong supporters said the clash was in the making for a long time from Samy Vellu’s dilly dallying with his departure, the fate of the MIC and the disenchantment in the Indian community.

“There is no kiss-and-make-up after this clash,” he said. “This is the tipping point for him. By standing up to Samy Vellu, Palanivel is saying he is ready to provide the leadership and direction that the MIC badly needs.”

Explain use of land, MB tells foundation Tan Yi Liang
SHAH ALAM (Jan 18, 2010): Selangor's Poverty Eradication Foundation (YBK) should be clear as to how a 1,300-acre plot in Serendah worth RM78 million (computed at RM60,000 an acre) will be used before the state government will allow any conversion on the the use of the land, Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim said today.

Piiirrrrraaahhhhhhh.

PWTC: Umno (mengaku dia) Punya (tapi sebebenonye) Rakyat Bayor...

Who financed PWTC? YOU did, says book
Jan 16, 10 10:03am

The book chronicling the life and politics of Dr Mahathir Mohamad has made a startling allegation that the Umno headquarters - Putra World Trade Centre - was financed, in part, by taxpayers.

In the Malaysian Maverick: Mahathir Mohamad in Turbulent Times, author Barry Wain writes that the government “persuaded” state-owned banks to forgive a large chunk of the loans to finance the project.

The author, who referenced this information to a 2007 interview with former Finance Minister Daim Zainuddin, said the banks had written off at least RM140 million in accumulated interest.

According to a confidential accountants' report commissioned by Umno in 1985, which Wain had obtained, the PWTC's eventual price tag was at RM360 million.

The report said the sum was financed by loans of RM199.5 million from state-owned Bank Bumiputera Malaysia Berhad and RM64.9 million from Malayan Banking Bhd, as they were then known.

Additionally, the accountants' report states that as of March 1986, the Umno appointed company to construct the building, Khidmat Bersatu Sdn Bhd, had only paid RM51,570 in interest.

Umno's free flowing cash cow

“And the report... made it clear the company would pay no more,” wrote Wain, in the fifth chapter of his book, titled A Volatile Mix of Business and Politics.

“Malaysian taxpayers had subsidised the construction of Umno's landmark headquarters, which became a cash cow for the party,” he concluded.

Wain's allegations adds to the string of controversies over how Umno's financed the iconic 42-story office building, which is still serves as one of the country's most important convention centres.
The book details, what is already public knowledge, of how the federal government threw a debt-ridden Umno a lifeline in 1986, by awarding the party-owned United Engineers (Malaysia) Bhd a RM3.42 billion contract for the North-South Highway, better known by its Malay acronym of PLUS.

“In the case of the PLUS project, it is a means of Umno solving its problems by repaying loans taken for the new Umno headquarters building,” Najib Abdul Razak, then culture, youth and sports minister, was quoted in the book as saying.

As long as Umno is in government...'

But as the party went into turmoil in 1988 - which saw the party being de-registered and being reorganised into a new party - its assets were caught in tangle of complications.

After years of failing to service the loan, Bank Bumiputra obtained a court approval to auction off PWTC (right), which was stalled by Umno which tried to renegotiate a refinancing plan.

“It was a magnanimous gesture, considering that Umno had failed to make any payments for years, though not surprising, since Umno effectively controlled Bank Bumiputra,” wrote Wain.

Referring to the author's 2007 interview with Daim, the latter was quoted saying, “As long as Umno is the government, the bank will not disturb you”.

PWTC was conceptualised during the 1975 Umno general assembly while construction proper began in November 1982.

Wain's book is currently under scrutiny by the Home Ministry which have withheld sale of the book. The book is enjoying brisk sales in neighbouring Singapore.

The author was the former editor of the Asian Wall Street Journal and is currently attached to the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies, Singapore.

Antara Fantasi Dan Realiti.

Husam Musa menceritakan dari perspektif yang benar. Apa kata MSO??

Cerita Bazar

Jelas, kelebihan Tok Guru.

Serangan seperti i ni amat bertunjangkan kebencian, bukan kejujuran.

Zaki ingatkan hakim buat keputusan tanpa dipengaruhi sesiapa

“Dunia kini menjadi global.

The day I spoke at the Hall of the Holy Spirit

JAN 16 — Since the controversial High Court ruling on Dec 31 allowing the Catholic newspaper Herald to use “Allah” in the Christian context, Malaysia has turned into a land wrecked with religious conflict and tension. After the ruling, years of living together in relative religious harmony has gone down the drain. Ten churches have been attacked — one of them burned, although one surau was also the target of contempt.

There were also protests by Muslim groups and now a little over a week later, the issue has not died down but on the contrary seems to be gathering momentum through statements made by politicians and comments online and elsewhere.

So what is the real problem here? Is it even an issue in the first place? How about holding a dialogue in a civilised manner? These are questions I have tried to answer and wish to share with the readers. This is also about the day I spoke at the Hall of the Holy Spirit in Penang.

When the “Allah” issue began to spread like wildfire, my party (PAS) took a different approach. Instead of playing the race and religion card, my party went with what has guided it all along — Islamic principles.

When I spoke on Jan 13 at the Catholic Church in Island Glades, Penang, I had no difficulty talking about the issue because my understanding of the teaching of Islam provided me with the eloquence and wisdom I needed.

I started off with the simple "Peace Be Upon my Brothers and Sisters of the Christian Faith". I did not feel there was anything wrong greeting them with peace since I came here for peace. I then started to praise the Almighty, Lord of The Universe (Alhamdulillah Rabbil Alamin) and told my Christian friends that the word “Allah” is made for us to recognise His Greatness and Superiority, not to hate one another for using it.

I also wanted the audience to understand that I did not come for purely political reasons although I represented an Islamic political party. I wanted them to know that there are greater reasons why I came that day. So I had to use the words of Allah to express myself.

I quoted the Chapter of Al Hujurat: “O mankind, we have created you from men and women, tribes and people of different kind so that you get acquainted with one another and the best among you in eyes of Allah is the most pious.” I explained that the verses taught me not to judge others but to rely on the judgment of Allah.

If we look at others through ethno- or faith-centric eyes, we are sure to be biased. This will create an artificial relationship and deep down the hatred will remain although it is concealed.

The best way is to surrender judgment to Allah’s interpretation and standard. He said clearly that the best among you are the most pious! What a splendid exit from an ethno- and faith-centric relationship.

I extended further my contention that there is a need for a more sincere relationship by quoting yet another chapter of the Quran from Al Isra when He said: “I have honored Sons of Adam and made them conquered the sea and land, I have endowed upon them wealth of the universe and have favored them more than my other creations.”

I had to make people of other faiths understand this so we can avoid disrespect and hatred. If a faith relationship is based purely on faith then there would never be the notion of Humanity, there would be no notion of Respect and you can forget about engaging in Dialogue and Talk.

What this gathering is all about is our commonality, Christians or Muslims are all Allah’s creation. I also told them about the time the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) stood up in respect as a Jewish funeral passed by. His companions asked why one should respect a non-believer? The Prophet said clearly: “Is he not HUMAN?”

Kicking off the talk this way gave me the strength I needed to defuse the tension. I moved in into the issue and provided them first of all PAS’s stand on the ruling. I began to clarify that with a verse from the chapter of Zukhruf.

The very basis of this verse shows that the issue of using the word “Allah” has come up before, and the Quran has said clearly that if non-believers accept that it is Allah, not other deities, that created them, the Prophet shall not worry about why they are using the word Allah but should engage in peace and explain to them so ultimately it is hoped that they know who the real Allah is!

I cannot ban what has been permitted because I would be dishonest about the knowledge of God although the blanket approval does not mean one can use it for bad intentions or create confusion. I do not understand the fuss about non-Muslims using the word “Allah” as long as the condition is they do not use it with any bad intentions!

I had to conclude that this is simply not an issue, then why all the rage? I told them unfortunately it was the politicians who had highly politicised everything including the word Allah.

Being a politician myself I felt bad as the issue has threatened the very fabric of our society. I told the audience to beware of the Munafiqin (The Pretenders), they are everywhere looking for victims and prey.

I said: “Our society is going through changes and on the course of that, perceptions are challenged, old ways of doing things are been questioned, it is hoped that whatever process of change we are doing, there is always a future for all Malaysians to live in peace and harmony.”

And that was when the rather sombre and serious atmosphere in the hall changed. There were smiling faces all over, this aura of hope gave both Muslims and Christians yet another new chapter in our society. A chapter called Dialogue in a Civilised Manner, a chapter called Humanity and a new dawn for Malaysia will surely come... that was the day when I spoke at the Hall of Holy Spirit.
